Park Rules


  1. These rules
    1. These rules apply to all guests, visitors and other persons entering the Park and at all times whilst inside the Park.  This includes all guests under a group booking.
    2. In these rules, “we” “us” or “our” is a reference to Bigriggen Park management and staff, and “you” “your” is a reference to any guest, visitor or other person entering the Park.
    3. A reference to the “Park” means the whole of the area of the Bigriggen Camping and Caravan Park, including all wildlife areas and swimming areas.  If you are not sure if you are within the Park area, you should assume that you are for the purpose of adhering to these rules.
    4. When you enter the Park, you acknowledge having received or viewed a copy of these rules and agree to adhere to these rules at all times.  Failure to adhere to these rules may result in immediate eviction from the Park.  You further acknowledge and agree that you are liable for any injury, loss or damage that you cause to yourself, us or any other person due to your failure to follow these rules.
    5. We may update these rules at any time.  Posting of new or updated rules to our website, at our office at the Park, or by delivery to you whilst entering or at the Park, amounts to notice of the new rules which apply immediately from that time.


  1. Entry to the park
    1. Check-in times are:
Non-powered sites 8:00am Friday to Sunday and 9:00am Monday to Thursday
Powered sites 12:00pm all days
    1. Office hours are:
Monday to Friday 9:00am – 6:00pm
Friday 8:00am – 8:00pm
Saturday and Sunday 8:00am – 6:00pm
    1. Should you be arriving outside office hours, please let us know and we may be able to make alternative arrangements. On-site management is accessible 24 hours a day in event of emergency.
    2. All guests, including visitors and daily guests, must register at the Park office on arrival.
    3. Check-in guests must bring their booking confirmation and will be issued an Entry Permit and boom gate code (unless advised differently).
    4. Entry Permit holders must have their color coded sticker fixed to their windscreen at all times throughout the stay.  It must be fixed to the outside of your windscreen on the driver’s side at the top. Please adhere the sticker to your vehicle immediately on arrival, as loss of Entry Permit could lead to eviction from Park.
    5. If you are part of a group booking and meeting other friends and family at the Park, we have a Park map where you can mark your camp location.  This will assist others in locating your camp area on arrival.
    6. Day visitors will receive a Day Pass.  Day visitor fees apply and must be paid on check-in.  Refer to our website for current daily fees or contact us.
    7. We may restrict visitor numbers at any time including during peak times.
    8. We reserve the right to refuse any person entry to the Park in our absolute discretion.
    9. The Park is 100% short term accommodation.  Maximum length of stay is 28 days and no permanent residency is permitted.


  1. Safety, loss or damage
    1. Whilst inside the Park you must comply with all the rules in this document.  You must also comply with all safety notices, signs and other directions throughout the Park, including all verbal directions by our staff regarding safe camping, safety during activities, and safe use of equipment and amenities.
    2. Guests acknowledge the inherent risk in all activities at the Park, including insects, spiders, ticks, falling limbs from trees, swimming in creeks/river, bushwalking, and will take necessary and reasonable precautions against same and acknowledge this can result in permanent or temporary injury and death.  We will not be responsible for accidents and injuries resulting from inherent or foreseeable risks.
    3. We recommend guests obtain travel insurance in relation to any injury, loss or damage to property that you may suffer.
    4. You must operate all equipment and amenities offered at the Park in accordance with the applicable rules, signage and our directions to you.
    5. You must not pollute the Park including by littering.
    6. You must not pollute or damage any of our buildings, equipment and amenities, including with graffiti.
    7. Discarding food, waste or other materials including going to the toilet in the Park other than in the appropriate amenities and receptacles is prohibited.
    8. Tipping of fuel or other polluting chemicals in the grass or down drains is strictly prohibited.
    9. You are liable for all cleaning, maintenance, and repair costs that we must incur to remedy any pollution or damage you cause.
    10. Parents, responsible adults and associations, are responsible for all pollution and damage caused by children under their supervision.
    11. All Queensland criminal laws apply whilst in the Park and we reserve the right to evict you and your booking party immediately if you are in breach of any criminal laws or undertake any criminal activity whilst on site, including theft, damage to property, harassment and bodily harm whether towards us or any other person.
    12. Any unsafe behavior may be called out by our staff and failure to comply with directions regarding safety and use of the Park will result in immediate eviction from the Park.
    13. Park staff will endeavor to act promptly on any reports of rule breaches and unsafe behavior. Patrolling of the Park depends on staff availability and conditions. We will not be liable for any rule breaches by other guests, including accidents, injury or other loss occasioned by other guests.
    14. Without limiting the foregoing, you accept that all of your equipment and other belongings are at your risk at all times. We will not be responsible for theft, damage or loss of your property howsoever occurring.
    15. Bigriggen Camping and Caravan Park will not be liable for any loss or damages suffered by the customer due to any issues resulting from:
      1. Use of any swing or other recreational device brought onto the property or constructed by anyone
      2. Inclement weather and any consequential damage from same including but not limited to personal injury or property damage
      3. Anything caused by any of Bigriggen Camping and Caravan Park other guests invitees, assigns, contractors or suppliers
        • Breakdown in any equipment
        • Falling limbs from trees
        • Injury from animal or insect
        • Injury from activity
        • Any loss contributed to or caused by the guests
        • Any events or change in circumstances as result of any pandemic or an event of force majeure


  1. Driving and cycling
    1. Queensland road rules apply inside the Park.  In addition, you must adhere to the rules below, and all signage and directions of our staff.
    2. Do not camp or park vehicles in the way of access roads to any part of the Park.
    3. Trail bikes, ATV’s, quad bikes are not permitted inside the Park.
    4. Speed limit of 10kph in Park applies. This is a shared zone between vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and wildlife.
    5. No learner drivers are permitted to drive in the Park due to increased risks.
    6. Unlicenced driving or driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance is strictly prohibited.
    7. No travelling or riding in backs of utes or trailers.
    8. Guests speeding or driving in a manner that we consider dangerous will be asked to leave the Park.
    9. A helmet will be worn at all times whilst cycling in the Park and cyclists must have such other appropriate safety gear for themselves and their children.
    10. Parents are responsible for the safety and supervision of their children while riding within the Park.
    11. Guests riding bicycles at night must have lights and all safety gear for night riding.
    12. Please report all dangerous driving or cycling to management before an accident or incident occurs.
    13. The public road into the Park traverses private property.  Speed limit is 40km/hr.  You must not enter the private property including to fetch wood.


  1. Equipment
    1. Chainsaws are strictly prohibited.
    2. Do not use an axe or chopping equipment to deface trees or property
    3. Use any axe or chopping equipment in on appropriate and safe manner and no children are left unattended with such equipment
    4. No shooting, weapons, rockets, rocket launchers (including pyrotechnics), explosives (including fireworks) are allowed at the Park under any circumstances.
    5. All camping and associated equipment that uses gas or electricity must be Australian certified, tagged and safe for use.
    6. Gas bottles must be kept in accordance with their recommended directions for storage and use.
    7. Personal fire pits and braziers are not permitted. See ‘Campfires’ below.


  1. Waste and rubbish
    1. All waste from portable ablutions must be emptied in the dump point at the amenities block.
    2. All other rubbish must be tied securely in bags and placed in the bins provided at the back of the amenities block .  Camp sites must be kept clean at all times and left clean on departure.


  1. Campfires
    1. If you did not bring fire wood, fire wood is available for purchase from the office.
    2. You must not cut down any tree  within the Park.  No outside wood contractors are permitted to enter the Park.
    3. Campfires are permitted in designated fire pits only.
    4. You must extinguish a camp fire fully with water before the last person retires for the night.
    5. No bonfires.  Keep the fire moderate, no large embers or flames.
    6. Do not light fires in existing logs or trees around the Park.  No creek-side fires.
    7. Do not set up a fire pit near trees, long grass, tents, caravans, etc.
    8. Never leave fire unattended.
    9. No fire twirling.
    10. No bottles, glass, rocks/stones, flammable liquids or explosives in fire pits.
    11. For safety reasons please wear appropriate footwear and supervise children near fire pits.
    12. Call/visit office immediately (whether within or outside office hours) if a fire is out of control.
    13. We reserve the right at all times to ban campfires in certain circumstances, including because of seasonal rules or weather inclement.  A sign will be placed at the entrance to Park advising of ban. Government imposes fines on individuals for lighting fires during bans and any fines we incur will be passed on to you.


  1. Water
    1. The Park is not on town water.  Park water is treated creek water that has been passed through a basic purification system, held in covered holding tanks and piped underground to tanks and taps.  We recommend you boil Park water before drinking, though use of your own purchased water is recommended.
    2. Bottled drinking water is available for purchase from the office subject to availability.
    3. Creek water is a precious resource and the Park is subject to strict water allocations from Seqwater.  You must close all taps firmly after use and we ask that you only use the amount of water strictly needed.
    4. Please fill your water tanks before visiting the Park.
    5. A water tap is available to each powered site


  1. Generators, noise and nuisance
    1. Generator hours are:

8.00am – 10.00am
5.00pm – 8.00pm

    1. Generators must be rated at 65db or less.
    2. Management reserves the right to alter and change usage hours and arrangements.
    3. A noise curfew applies from 10.00pm, please respect your fellow guests.
    4. No loud music, radio-controlled cars, drones, whips, etc. at anytime.
    5. No offensive bad language or behaviour.
    6. All forms of noise to be kept to an absolute minimum at all time.
    7. Use of drones is not permitted.
    8. Powered play devices are subject to noise regulation.
    9. Guests must remain within their site area or common areas. Use signed walkways and driveways, do not enter or walk through others guests’ camp sites.


    1. Camp kitchen
      1. Opening Hours: Friday & Saturday 8am to 8pm. Sunday 8am to 6pm.
      2. Children must not operate kitchen appliances and must be supervised at all times.
      3. Areas must be left clean and tidy after use.
      4. No noisy or unruly behaviour. No climbing on benches at any time.
      5. No animals allowed in the camp kitchen.
      6. No smoking allowed in the camp kitchen.
      7. No displaying of advertisements or notices without management approval.
      8. No wet or muddy people to enter the camp kitchen area.
      9. Food placed in fridges must be labelled with name and dated. All food in fridges will be removed every Tuesday at 10am for cleaning.


  1. Boom gate use
    1. Each vehicle will be allocated a 4 digit pin to enter and exit the Park for their exclusive use.
    2. The pin number is to be used only by the vehicle guest and the persons in their booking. The pin is not to be misused and lent to a third party for entry to the Park. If this occurs we reserve the right to cancel your booking with no refund or credit given and all persons in that booking will be asked to leave Park.
    3. Vehicles are to proceed without delay once pin is entered, don’t stop or walk under boom gate.
    4. Children are not permitted to play in and around the boom gate at any time.


  1. Activities and safety
    1. No digging of holes or trenches.
    2. No rope swings.
    3. Swimming is permitted in the creek or river. However, be aware there are submerged logs and rocks and water is shallow in parts. Do not dive into the water.
    4. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times around the waterways and whilst undertaking any other activity at the Park.
    5. Swimming in the river/creeks can be dangerous, take care when entering, while in and leaving the water and riverbank.
    6. Be aware that rain/storm/dam releases may cause waters to rise, including without warning.  Avoid swimming during heavy rain or if the water is not sufficiently clear.
    7. The Park does not monitor or provide life-saving supervision.  Swimming and other activities are performed at your own risk.
    8. Wear appropriate footwear while walking and camping in the bush to minimize the risk of tripping, falling, being bitten by animals such as spiders, ticks, snakes, etc.
    9. Spiders, ticks, snakes are another potential risks near walking tracks or long grass.

    1. In case of life-threatening injury or other emergency call 000 first, then contact Park management.
    2. We recommend that you bring a first aid kit with you, fly and insect spray, and sunscreen.  You may purchase these supplies from the Park office subject to availability.
    3. Don’t camp under trees with large boughs, especially gums, they tend to swap off on still silent days and also in strong winds.


  1. Dogs
    1. Bigriggen is a dog friendly park.  Guests acknowledge that there may be dogs on premises.
    2. Guests acknowledge that dogs are inherently unpredictable and we will not be liable for accidents or injury involving dogs or other permitted pets.
    3. We reserve the right to evict any guests whose dog is deemed noisy, disruptive, aggressive, or the subject of a complaint/s from other guests.
    4. It is the dog owner’s sole responsibility to control and manage their dog. If in the view of Park management this has not happened to an acceptable level, the owner and the dog may be evicted from the Park immediately.
    5. Upon arrival at the Park, the dog’s acceptance will be at the manager’s discretion.
    6. Dogs must be supervised at all times and never left unattended, including inside a tent, van, or other accommodation.
    7. Dogs must be on a leash at all times while not in a van or tent or other confinement.  There are no exceptions.
    8. For health and safety reasons, dogs are not allowed in any buildings or common areas of the Park. These areas are the office/shop and entry to shop, amenities blocks and the concrete common area and walkway around amenities block, the hall, swimming hole near powered sites. Penalty cleaning fees may apply if this occurs and you may be evicted from the Park.
    9. Dog swimming area is behind the hall only.  All swimming areas are clearly signed as to their usage and you must follow signage.
    10. Dog owners are 100% responsible for picking up and disposing of their dog’s waste in a plastic bag and in rubbish bins.  Additional bags may be purchased from the office.
    11. For health and safety reasons, dogs must not be washed or cleaned anywhere within the Park.
    12. Dog owners are personally responsible and will be held to be so, for any and all personal injuries and/or property damage or losses in relation to any actions caused by or because of their dog.
    13. By booking and when entering the Park, guests warrant that their pets are disease-free, healthy and all standard vaccinations are current.
    14. Dog owners take full responsibility for their dogs and will take all necessary and reasonable precautions to prevent harm to other animals or people and property.
    15. No washing of animal beds, blankets and clothing in washing machines.
